Montreal mayor says she got two flat tires due to potholes on busy street

MONTREAL — Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada is sharing her own experience about one of the city’s most infamous road problems after saying she blew two tires when she hit potholes on a busy Montreal street.

Ferrada posted a video on social media Monday evening with a tow-truck driver, promising solutions for Montreal drivers.

The issue has become a big headache for many Montreal motorists over the past few weeks after numerous potholes appeared on the streets of the city during a warm spell in January.

CAA Québec spokesperson Simon Bourrassa said flat-tire service calls in Montreal and Laval jumped 75 per cent from Jan. 9 to 20 compared with last year.

It’s Martinez Ferrada’s first winter in office as mayor of Montreal.

The mayor said she was driving on Notre-Dame Street which includes a section that was named Montreal’s worst road in CAA Québec’s 2025 online citizen vote.
