OTTAWA — The federal government posted a deficit of $370 million for the April-to-June period of its 2026-27 fiscal year.

In its monthly fiscal monitor report, the Finance Department says the result compared with a deficit of $6.28 billion for the same period a year earlier.

The deficit came as revenue totalled $132.64 billion for the three-month period, up from $120.84 billion in the same period last year.

Program expenses excluding net actuarial losses amounted to $117.16 billion, up from $112.34 billion a year ago.

Public debt charges totalled $14.61 billion for the period, up from $13.77 billion.

Net actuarial losses were $1.25 billion, up from $1.01 billion a year ago.
