CHARLOTTETOWN — Police say Prince Edward Island’s elections authority has asked them to investigate contributions made to the province’s Progressive Conservatives last year.
RCMP spokesperson Scott Ferris says Elections P.E.I. approached the police force in August.
He said in an interview that investigators have been reviewing the file and it’s not clear when they might finish.
Meanwhile, the governing Tories say Elections P.E.I. identified three issues with the party’s 2025 contributions.
The issues include seven donations that allegedly exceeded contribution limits and money received from someone in Nova Scotia, which has since been returned.
The party issued a statement saying it is co-operating with Elections P.E.I. and it has strengthened its financial and reporting procedures.
