New Brunswick health officials report eight new COVID-19 cases in province

FREDERICTON — Health officials in New Brunswick are reporting eight new cases of COVID-19 in the province today.

Four of the cases are in the Fredericton region, while there are two in the Moncton area and two in the Edmundston region.

According to a statement from the Department of Health, a small group of people from Fredericton High School may have been exposed to COVID-19 from a source outside the school, and they have been directed to self-isolate.

The school remains open, but staff and students are advised to monitor for symptoms.

Eight cases have now been linked to an outbreak at Magee House — a residence at the Fredericton campus of the University of New Brunswick.

The number of active cases in New Brunswick is now 122, and four patients are hospitalized, including two in intensive care.
