FREDERICTON — Health officials in New Brunswick are reporting nine new cases of COVID-19 today. 

The cases involve six people in the Moncton, N.B., region and three in the Fredericton area. 

Chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell says there are 134 active reported cases in New Brunswick.  

Seventy-four of the active cases are in the Fredericton area, but Premier Blaine Higgs says all of those infections are connected or travel related, therefore that region will remain with the rest of the province at the yellow pandemic-alert level.

Russell says an outbreak has been declared at Ti Bons Soins, a memory-care home in Shediac, N.B., and testing is underway for residents and staff.  

She says there are five New Brunswickers in hospital as a result of COVID-19, including one person in intensive care and one patient in hospital in another province.
