CALGARY — Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek says the city is to remain under water restrictions until at least the middle of next week.

That’s when crews should know how repairs to the broken main water pipeline are going.

Even though replacement pipe is now on the site, Gondek says installing, flushing and getting the distribution system ready will take at least a week.

She says residents continue to successfully reduce their water use.

She says she understands people are tired of using pasta water on their plants and confronting their droopy, unwashed hair in the mirror.

But she says a safe, reliable water supply is worth the inconvenience.
