MONTREAL — Members of the Quebec Liberal Party’s youth wing are gathering this weekend in the Montreal area to prepare for the upcoming provincial election.

Several workshops will be held in St. Lambert, across the St. Lawrence River from downtown, to train young Liberals in managing a riding campaign, using social media and beefing up their networks.

Charlie Bourdages, outgoing chair of the party’s youth commission, says younger people want a more long-term focus from their political leaders.

Quebec Liberal Leader Charles Milliard is set to give a speech this afternoon and answer questions from his fresh-faced recruits.

Twenty-five-year-old attendee Victor Pelletier, who switched over to the Liberals from the ruling Coalition Avenir Québec less than two months ago, says Milliard offers a “sound economic vision” for the province.

An election is set for Oct. 5, pitting the province’s five main parties against each other after eight years under the CAQ.
